River City, Leamouth Penninsula

IMAGE: Computer Generated Image of the development.

The simulated aerial view shows River City (as white buildings). They will stand on land previously used by a food processing factory called Pura Foods. It is a true penninsula, surrounded by the River Lea.

Canary Wharf can be seen in the background (top right) and the O2 (Millennium Dome) can also be seen (far left, towards the top).

Work began on Ballymore’s 10-acre site on the Leamouth Penninsula in 2010. Permission was granted by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation. The design is by SOM.

Phase 1 includes five buildings with 537 apartments, 5,500 square metres of business space and 6,100 square metres of retail, leisure, community and energy space, including an art gallery and 275 parking spaces.
Phase 2 will see a further 1,169 apartments, 10,500 square metres of office, retail, arts, and educational space over eight new buildings.
